13 Odisha Police Personnel to Receive President’s Medals on Independence Day

Overview of the Awards

On India’s 78th Independence Day, 13 distinguished police personnel from Odisha will be honored with President’s Medals. This recognition highlights their exceptional service and dedication. The Ministry of Home Affairs has announced that two officers will receive the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM), while 11 others will be awarded the Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM).

Details of the Awards

A total of 1,037 police personnel across the country will be recognized with Police Medals this year. The medals are categorized as follows:

President’s Medal for Gallantry (PMG): Awarded for conspicuous gallantry in saving lives, property, or preventing crimes. This year, one officer from Telangana has been honored with this medal.

Medal for Gallantry (MG): Presented to 208 officers for their acts of bravery in the line of duty.

President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM): Given to 75 officers who have demonstrated a special and distinguished record in police service.

Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM): Awarded to 624 officers for their valuable service marked by resourcefulness and devotion to duty.

Odisha’s Awardees

From Odisha, the following police personnel will be honored:

President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Service (PSM)

Suresh Dev Datta Singh: Serving as Additional Director General of Police, Singh’s leadership and dedication have significantly contributed to law enforcement in the state.

Sachinanda Rath: Deputy Superintendent of Police, Rath has been recognized for his distinguished record and impactful service.

President’s Medal for Meritorious Service (MSM)

Kaushika Kumar Naik: Deputy Commandant, Naik’s contributions to maintaining order and security have been commendable.

Sanat Kumar Nathsharma: Deputy Superintendent of Police, Nathsharma has demonstrated exceptional service in his role.

Kavita Sahu: Deputy Superintendent of Police, Sahu’s efforts in law enforcement have been crucial.

Pramoda Kumar Mohanta: Constable, Mohanta’s dedication and service have earned him this recognition.

Pradyumna Kumar Nanda: Sub Inspector, Nanda’s commitment to duty is acknowledged with this award.

Babula Samal: Assistant Sub Inspector, Samal’s valuable contributions have been recognized.

Sanjukta Patanaik: Constable, Patanaik’s exemplary service is honored with the medal.

Haribandhu Bhatra: Inspector, Bhatra has made significant contributions to police work.

Tophan Behera: Havildar, Behera’s service and commitment are recognized with this award.

Additionally, Prakash Chandra Sahoo (Company Commander) and Simanchala Kundu (Civil Defence Volunteer) will receive the Home Guard & Civil Defence Meritorious Service Medal for their outstanding contributions to civil defense and community safety.
