Honouring the Nation Builders
Teachers’ Day, observed annually on September 5, stands as a national tribute to the guiding lights of society. The date commemorates the birth anniversary of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, India’s second President and a distinguished teacher, symbolising the country’s reverence for education and mentorship. This year, the occasion gains further significance as President Droupadi Murmu will honour 45 outstanding teachers with the National Teachers’ Award, recognising their lifelong dedication and innovative contributions to learning.
Celebrating Excellence in Teaching
The National Teachers’ Award is one of the highest recognitions bestowed upon educators in India. In 2025, 45 teachers from across the nation—spanning remote villages, semi-urban centres, and bustling metropolitan schools—have been selected for their transformative influence on students. These individuals have been chosen for their ability to inspire, innovate, and nurture young minds while adapting to the changing needs of education.
Each awardee will receive a certificate of merit, a silver medal, and a cash prize of ₹50,000, symbolising not just personal achievement but also the collective value that teaching contributes to nation-building.
A Ceremony of National Pride
The award ceremony will take place in New Delhi on September 5, with President Murmu personally presenting the honours. To ensure smooth participation, the Ministry of Education has arranged accommodation for the recipients at The Ashok Hotel in Chanakyapuri, covering their stay from September 3 to September 6. A special briefing session has also been scheduled on September 3 to familiarise awardees with the event proceedings.
These meticulous arrangements reflect the government’s intent to make the honour not only prestigious but also memorable, recognising the years of effort and resilience invested by teachers.
