Over 5,000 Drones Set to Participate

Amaravati, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, is hosting the highly anticipated Amaravati Drone Summit 2024, a two-day event that begins today. Organized by the Andhra Pradesh Drone Corporation, the summit will showcase over 5,000 drones and bring together industry experts, researchers, students, and innovators. The event, supported by the Ministry of Civil Aviation, the Confederation of Indian Industry, and the Drone Federation of India, is taking place at Punnami Ghat on the banks of the Krishna River. Union Civil Aviation Minister Kinjarapu Ram Naidu and Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu will also attend the event, underscoring its national significance.

Government’s Vision for Drone Technology

The Andhra Pradesh government is looking to harness the transformative potential of drones across multiple sectors, including surveillance, agriculture, logistics, and healthcare. S Suresh Kumar, Principal Secretary of Infrastructure and Investments, emphasized that this initiative could open new avenues for innovation and economic growth. The state is targeting investments of ₹2,000 crore in the drone industry, with a goal of creating 30,000 jobs, contributing to both technological advancements and employment generation. A new Drone Policy is expected to be announced during the summit, further solidifying Andhra Pradesh’s commitment to becoming a national leader in drone technology.

The summit will feature various sessions on drone applications in manufacturing, disaster monitoring, law enforcement, logistics, and agriculture.
