Majhi Government’s Developmental Initiatives
The Odisha government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, has been implementing transformative developmental schemes across various sectors. With a strong emphasis on infrastructure, healthcare, education, and tourism, the Majhi government is working towards fostering economic growth and enhancing the quality of life for the people of Odisha. In a significant move, CM Majhi inaugurated projects worth Rs 1,000 crore in Jajpur, reinforcing his commitment to the district’s progress.
Major Announcements and Infrastructure Boost
During the inaugural event of the Jajpur District Festival ‘Yayati-2025’, CM Majhi launched 83 projects worth Rs 829.76 crore and laid the foundation stone for 77 new projects valued at Rs 170 crore. These projects span multiple sectors, including healthcare, education, roads, bridges, canals, electric transport, and tourism.
Notable projects include:
· Maa Biraja Temple Complex Development – Rs 50 crore allocated for the beautification and upgrading of the Baglamukhi Temple, Shiva Temple, and Brahmakunda.
· New Bus Terminal – Rs 30 crore sanctioned for modernizing transportation infrastructure.
· Biraja Agnishwar Market Development – Rs 21.43 crore dedicated to enhancing market facilities.
· Expansion of Temple Dharamshala – Rs 10 crore allocated to accommodate more devotees.
Additionally, the Vyasa Sarovar and Town Hall in Vyas Nagar were inaugurated, with a combined investment of Rs 78 crore, alongside the foundation stone laid for a nursing college in Jajpur.
Healthcare Expansion: Jajati Keshari Medical College
A key highlight of the event was the inauguration of the Maharaja Jajati Keshari Medical College and Hospital, which aims to significantly boost healthcare services in Jajpur. The institution has begun with 50 MBBS seats for its first academic year, with plans to expand to 100 seats in the next session. This development is a crucial step in strengthening the medical infrastructure of the district.
Cultural Heritage and Tourism Promotion
CM Majhi emphasized the rich cultural heritage of Jajpur, acknowledging its significance in Odisha’s history. The government is committed to preserving and promoting Buddhist sites such as Ratnagiri, Lalitgiri, and Udayagiri.
The Jajpur Zilla Mahotsav Jajati 2025, a five-day festival, was inaugurated at Prashasanik Bhawan ground. The event provides a common platform for local artists, promoting art, literature, culture, and tourism. Additionally, the Pallishree Mela is being organized to support rural vendors and craftsmen by offering better marketing facilities.
Social Welfare and Economic Upliftment
Reaffirming the government’s focus on social welfare, CM Majhi disbursed the first instalment of Rs 5,000 to 18 lakh beneficiaries under the fourth phase of Subhadra Yojana at a special event in Chandama Padia. This scheme aims to provide financial assistance to women, reinforcing the state’s commitment to economic empowerment and inclusive growth.
