The Ministry of Railways has announced that 315 special trains will be operational for the Rath Yatra festival in Puri, Odisha. This initiative aims to facilitate the smooth travel and convenience of pilgrims. The special train services will run from July 6 to July 19, ensuring an efficient transport system during the festival.

Train Services from Various Locations

The East Coast Railway (ECoR) has arranged these special trains from various parts of Odisha and neighboring states. Trains will operate from key locations such as Badampahad, Rourkela, Baleswar, Sonepur, and Daspalla. Additional trains will also run from Junagarh Road, Sambalpur, Kendujhargarh, Paradeep, Bhadrak, Angul, Gunupur, and Bangiriposi for the Gundicha Yatra and other festival events.

Support for Rituals and Festivals

Special train services are not limited to the main Rath Yatra event. ECoR has planned additional trains for other significant rituals such as Sandhya Darshan, Bahuda Yatra, and Suna Vesha. The special services will also cater to the Adharapana ritual, ensuring comprehensive coverage for all festival activities.

Enhanced Facilities for Pilgrims

Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw has emphasized the need for improved passenger amenities during the Rath Yatra period. He has instructed ECoR to enhance facilities and ensure the convenience of pilgrims. Measures include improved crowd management, expanded train information systems, video wall displays, additional ticket booking counters, and mobile ticket counters.

Amenities and Security

ECoR has taken steps to accommodate up to 15,000 pilgrims in waiting areas. They have also arranged for security measures, catering, and hospitality services, medical facilities, and ambulances. To further ensure a hassle-free experience, the Railways will provide continuous power and water supply, maintain cleanliness, offer sufficient drinking water, and provide ample toilet facilities.

Commitment to Pilgrim Convenience

With these preparations, the Railways is committed to providing a seamless and comfortable travel experience for the devotees attending the Rath Yatra. The special train services and enhanced facilities are aimed at ensuring a safe and enjoyable pilgrimage for all attendees.

This decision to increase the number of special trains for this year’s Rath Yatra was made today during a meeting between Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union Railway Minister Ashwini Kumar Vaishnaw in New Delhi. The plan includes significantly more trains than last year, covering almost all major locations. Additionally, arrangements will be made to accommodate 15,000 people. Chief Minister Majhi expressed his gratitude to Railway Minister Vaishnaw for these special provisions.
