From NEET to Rolls-Royce: How Rithuparna Turned Failure into Flight

When One Door Closed, She Built Another

At just 20 years old, Rithuparna KS from Bengaluru has become a symbol of resilience and reinvention. Once disheartened by failing to secure a seat in NEET—the gateway to her dream of becoming a doctor—she did not allow disappointment to define her path. Instead, she rerouted her ambition toward engineering. Today, she stands tall with a Rs 72.3 lakh per annum job offer from Rolls-Royce’s Jet Engine Manufacturing Division in Texas, proving that failure can be the first step to greater success.

Redirection, Not Rejection

After not qualifying through NEET, Rithuparna enrolled in robotics and automation engineering at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management, Mangaluru, through the CET route. Her curiosity and love for technology blossomed there. She embraced hands-on projects, such as developing a robot to assist arecanut farmers, which won accolades at an international conference in Goa. That same spirit of innovation saw her collaborating with NITK Surathkal and joining the Dakshina Kannada DC Fellowship—expanding her horizons beyond the classroom.

Crafting Her Wings at Rolls-Royce

Her defining moment came during a rigorous eight-month internship at Rolls-Royce. Juggling midnight shifts and intense project demands while still pursuing her degree, Rithuparna showed grit, commitment, and excellence. Impressed by her capabilities, Rolls-Royce offered her a pre-placement in December 2024. By April 2025, they doubled her offer from Rs 39.6 lakh to Rs 72.3 lakh per annum—a reward for her consistency and problem-solving acumen.

She is now set to join the prestigious Texas division of Rolls-Royce, one of the youngest recruits ever in their jet engine program.

An Inspiration for Every Dreamer

Rithuparna’s story is not just about a job offer—it’s about overcoming failure, adapting quickly, and striving with purpose. It highlights how alternative paths can lead to extraordinary destinations when powered by determination, curiosity, and a willingness to learn.

Every Setback Is a Setup for a Comeback

To every young dreamer disheartened by a missed exam or a lost opportunity—Rithuparna’s journey proves that your destination can change, but your determination should not. Whether it’s medicine or machines, success belongs to those who rise, adapt, and never stop believing in what they can become.
