The INDIA bloc has emerged victorious in eight of the 13 Assembly seats contested in the recent bypoll elections. This performance has posed a significant challenge to the ruling BJP-led NDA.
In Himachal Pradesh, Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu’s wife, Kamlesh Thakur, made her political debut by winning the Dehra seat as a Congress candidate. Hardeep Singh Bawa, also from the Congress, secured a win in the Nalgarh by-election.
In Punjab, the Aam Aadmi Party’s Mohinder Bhagat won the Jalandhar West Assembly seat. The Trinamool Congress had a strong showing in West Bengal, winning three of the four seats: Raiganj, Ranaghat Dakshin, and Bagda. The party is leading in the fourth seat of Maniktala.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured victories in two seats: one in Himachal Pradesh and another in Madhya Pradesh. Lakhapat Singh Butola won the Badrinath seat in Uttarakhand. He expressed his gratitude, saying, “I want to thank the people of Badrinath. The credit for this goes to all those who directly and indirectly supported me in this fight for justice.”
Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav celebrated the BJP’s win in the state, noting, “I am happy that last time we won the Lok Sabha in Chhindwara and this time we have also won the by-election. This shows the relationship between the BJP and the public. I want to congratulate the people of Madhya Pradesh on this victory of Amarwada.”
Krishna Kalyani, the TMC candidate who won the Raiganj Assembly seat, stated, “I am a resident of Raiganj and I want to thank all those who voted to keep development in mind. People have turned away from BJP ever since PM Narendra Modi tried to poison the minds of people by politicizing the Sandeshkhali issue. AITC has got a clear mandate of the people.”
Overall, the results indicate a strong performance by the INDIA bloc, with significant wins across multiple states, highlighting a shift in the political landscape.
