India has entered the Guinness World Records books after collecting 250,946 valid pledges for responsible artificial intelligence use within just 24 hours, between February 16 and 17, 2026. The milestone was announced at the India AI Impact Summit in New Delhi, where officials described the campaign as a landmark public mobilisation for ethical technology. Conducted under the IndiaAI Mission in partnership with Intel India, the digital pledge invited citizens—especially students—to commit to safe and responsible AI practices through scenario-based quizzes and learning modules.
The effort far exceeded its initial target of 5,000 pledges, signalling strong youth engagement and broad public awareness around the ethical use of emerging technologies.

Responsible AI refers to the design, deployment, and use of artificial intelligence systems in ways that are ethical, transparent, and aligned with societal values. 3. Privacy and Safety
The pledge emphasises safeguarding personal data and rejecting harmful or intrusive AI applications. Participants commit to respecting consent, minimising data misuse, and ensuring human oversight—principles aligned with India’s data-protection framework.
4. Inclusivity and Fairness
Users are urged to promote equitable AI systems that benefit diverse communities, including rural and non-English-speaking populations. The focus on inclusivity reflects India’s push for AI solutions in local languages and public services while countering algorithmic bias.
