Violence Strikes Again at Kapil Sharma’s Café in Canada
Comedian Kapil Sharma’s café in Surrey, Canada, has once again come under gunfire, marking the second such incident within a month. Over 25 shots were fired at Kap’s Café, prompting growing concerns about extortion and gang-linked violence overseas. The incident has been claimed by Goldy Dhillon, allegedly affiliated with the notorious Lawrence Bishnoi gang, via a threatening Facebook post. The message issued a chilling warning, stating that if Sharma fails to respond, the “next operation” will take place in Mumbai—where the comedian resides.
The Claim: Gang Issues Direct Warning to Kapil Sharma
A viral social media post, believed to be from gangster Goldy Dhillon, has sent shockwaves across platforms. The post, written in Hindi and peppered with religious invocations, claimed responsibility for the shooting and accused Sharma of ignoring previous attempts to contact him.
The translated message read:
“We had called Kapil Sharma, but he didn’t pick up. So we had to act. If he still doesn’t respond, our next move will be in Mumbai.”
The post closed with ominous references to other known criminals, including Jitender Gogi Maan Group, Kala Rana, and Aarzoo Bishnoi, suggesting a broader network may be involved. A tribute to a deceased associate, “RIP Ankit Badhu Sherewala,” was also included, further fueling speculation about internal gang dynamics.
While the post’s authenticity remains under investigation, a purported video of the shooting has gone viral online, where multiple gunshots—estimated to be at least 25—can be clearly heard echoing through the quiet suburban area.
No Injuries Reported, But Fear Escalates
Thankfully, no injuries were reported in either of the attacks, including the previous one in mid-July. Kapil Sharma was not present during either incident. Still, the repeated nature of the assaults has deeply unsettled the local Indian community and raised questions about gang influence extending beyond Indian borders.
The Surrey Police Department has launched an active investigation, though updates remain limited. Authorities are reportedly working with cybersecurity units to verify the origin and legitimacy of the Facebook post while reviewing surveillance footage from the scene.
Kapil Sharma’s Response: A Stand Against Violence
Despite the intimidation, Kapil Sharma has chosen to respond with resilience. In a recent social media post shared jointly with his wife, Ginni Chatrath, Sharma thanked the local police and Mayor Brenda Locke for their support. Alongside a video showing officials visiting Kap’s Café, Sharma wrote:
“United we stand against violence. We’re truly grateful for the support.”
He has firmly stated that he does not endorse any form of violence, choosing unity over fear in the face of targeted threats.
Security, Solidarity, and Strategic Cooperation Needed
The back-to-back attacks on Kap’s Café are more than just isolated criminal acts—they represent a transnational threat that merges extortion, intimidation, and organized crime. With gang operatives claiming reach in both Canada and India, law enforcement agencies across both nations must collaborate closely to prevent further escalation.
In addition to ramping up security for high-profile individuals abroad, governments should bolster cyber-monitoring of such threats and establish stronger protocols for protecting diaspora communities from targeted violence. Most importantly, public figures like Kapil Sharma must continue to receive not just police protection but also collective societal support to stand strong against fear-mongering and criminal coercion.
