NTPC Donates ₹63.59 Lakh in Medical Equipment to AIIMS Bhubaneswar, Boosting Odisha’s Healthcare Backbone

NTPC’s CSR Drive Strengthens Odisha’s Public Health Sector

NTPC Ltd., through its Eastern Region-II Headquarters in Bhubaneswar, has made a meaningful stride in public health advancement by donating medical equipment worth ₹63.59 lakh to AIIMS Bhubaneswar under its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme. This vital initiative is not just a donation — it is a strategic reinforcement of NTPC’s commitment to strengthening India’s healthcare infrastructure.

The donation includes 50 Rapid Emergency Recovery Trolleys, 50 AYUSH Fixed-Height Overbed Tables, 60 Folding Wheelchairs with Cushions, and 60 Stretchers on Trolleys, all of which will significantly improve patient mobility, emergency response, and operational efficiency within the hospital.

The equipment was formally handed over in a ceremony attended by Shri Arindam Sinha, Regional Executive Director (East-II), NTPC, and Prof. (Dr) Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director & CEO, AIIMS Bhubaneswar.

Supporting a Premier Health Institution in the East

AIIMS Bhubaneswar has been at the forefront of public healthcare delivery in eastern India, serving not only Odisha but also neighbouring states. With a growing patient load, the hospital continually requires updated resources to maintain high standards of care. This equipment support from NTPC arrives at a crucial juncture, as AIIMS ramps up its facilities post-COVID and prepares for a further increase in healthcare demands.

Dr. Biswas lauded the contribution, emphasizing that the equipment would enhance day-to-day functionality, reduce wait times for patients, and support critical emergency services. “The infrastructure boost will significantly ease the burden on staff and offer better comfort and care to patients,” he noted.

A Broader Vision: NTPC’s CSR in Healthcare

This donation is part of NTPC’s broader CSR strategy, which includes focused efforts in healthcare, education, livelihood, and rural development. With a deep-rooted presence in Odisha through multiple power projects, NTPC has long recognized the importance of aligning its social responsibility with the state’s developmental needs.

NTPC has previously supported various health outreach programmes, mobile medical units, and rural health infrastructure across India. The collaboration with AIIMS Bhubaneswar represents its continued focus on creating measurable, lasting impact by strengthening institutions that touch millions of lives.

A Synergy for Social Good

In a state like Odisha, where rural and semi-urban populations often face healthcare access barriers, such corporate interventions can create ripples of progress. NTPC’s contribution to AIIMS Bhubaneswar is more than a CSR exercise — it’s a symbol of responsible partnership between industry and public institutions. As Odisha’s healthcare ecosystem grows, collaborative models like this one are vital for delivering equitable, quality care to all.
