Odisha Government Faces Backlash Over OSSSC Exam Paper Leak, Assures Transparent Investigation

Mounting Concerns Over OSSSC Paper Leak Scandal

Amid growing concerns over the integrity of the exams conducted by the Odisha Sub-ordinate Staff Selection Commission (OSSSC), the Odisha government has come under fire following allegations of paper leaks in several high-stakes recruitment exams. These irregularities have sparked protests across the state, with aspirants demanding immediate action and transparency in the examination process.

Large-Scale Irregularities in Recruitment Exams

Aspirants have accused the OSSSC of serious mismanagement in the recently concluded Computer Based Recruitment Examinations (CRE-II and CRE-IV) for various posts, including LI, Forester, Forest Guard, Revenue Inspectors (RI), Amin, ICDS Supervisors, and others. Reports have surfaced of exam papers being leaked and improper conduct at cyber cafes, raising serious questions about the credibility of the recruitment process. With 2,895 vacancies at stake, the future of thousands of candidates hangs in the balance.

Government Response: Assurances of Transparency

In response to the growing outcry, the Odisha government issued a statement assuring that it remains committed to upholding transparency in the recruitment process. “The Odisha government will not compromise on transparency. We have received inputs about the paper leak. Senior officials are investigating the matter, and an appropriate decision will be taken very soon,” the government said in a press release.

The government has pledged to take swift action, emphasizing that it will not jeopardize the future of aspirants who have worked hard for these positions. However, candidates remain skeptical, demanding more concrete steps to ensure fairness.

Protests Escalate, Aspirants Demand Exam Cancellation

Hundreds of aspirants have staged protests across Odisha, calling for the immediate cancellation of the examinations and a full investigation into the alleged irregularities. Earlier, protestors even gathered outside the residence of State Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj in Bhubaneswar, amplifying their demands.

In a recent rally in Cuttack, aspirants marched from Netaji Subash Chandra Bose Bus Terminal to the Collector’s office, voicing their frustration. One agitated candidate highlighted the issue, stating, “The government has deployed blacklisted firms to conduct the examination. We demand immediate cancellation. If our demands are not met, we will intensify our protest.”

Ensuring Integrity and Fairness

As protests grow, the Odisha government faces increasing pressure to restore trust in its recruitment process. With ongoing investigations, candidates hope that their concerns will be addressed, and a transparent system will be put in place to ensure a fair recruitment process for all. The next few weeks will be crucial in determining how the government responds to these serious allegations.
