Massive Recruitment Drive Initiated
The Odisha government is gearing up to fill 92,203 vacant positions across various departments, according to reports released on Tuesday. This move comes as part of the state’s action plan to address the significant number of unfilled government jobs. The recruitment process has already commenced, with the government instructing various departments to expedite the hiring process.
Current Status of Vacancies
Of the total 3,99,666 sanctioned posts in the state, 1,32,459 remain vacant. The state empowered committee has granted approval to fill 92,203 of these positions. Departments have been directed to complete the approval process for the remaining 40,256 vacancies by September.
Steps Taken to Expedite Hiring
Out of the 92,203 approved vacancies, government recruitment agencies have been notified in writing to fill 78,999 positions. Additionally, departments have been ordered to send requisitions to recruitment agencies by the end of this month to fill the remaining 13,284 posts. The government has set a deadline for issuing advertisements for all vacant positions by December.
Upcoming Recruitment Events
In a significant move, the state government will distribute employment letters to 18,788 junior teachers (schematic) through a recruitment fair scheduled for September. Furthermore, the government plans to organize seven recruitment fairs in September to distribute employment letters to eligible candidates for 2,918 different categories of posts.
Departments Awaiting Approval
Among the 40,256 positions still awaiting approval from the state empowered committee, the School and Public Education Department has the highest number of vacancies, with 16,738 posts. Other departments with significant vacancies include the Home Department (6,150 posts), Health and Family Welfare Department (4,612 posts), Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Department (2,050 posts), and Higher Education Department (1,693 posts).
