Odisha Set for Major Development Over the Next Five Years, Says CM Majhi

Optimism Post NITI Aayog Meeting

Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi returned from New Delhi on Monday after attending the NITI Aayog meeting chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Following his return, CM Majhi expressed strong confidence that the proposals he presented at the meeting would be implemented, leading to significant development in Odisha over the next five years.

Focus on Key Sectors

Addressing the media, Majhi highlighted the Prime Minister’s special focus on Odisha’s development. He stated, “The Prime Minister is giving special importance to the development of Odisha. Therefore, all the proposals that I have made in the policy commission meeting will be implemented, and there will be a big change in Odisha in the next five years.” Majhi outlined key areas of development, including:

·       Beach Development: Focus on the 480 km coastline.

·       Port Industries: Enhancing infrastructure and operations.

·       Tourism: Boosting the state’s tourism potential.

·       IT Sector: Promoting technological growth and innovation.

·  Tribal Development: Ensuring inclusive growth for tribal communities.

Resolving the Potato Crisis

During his visit, Majhi also addressed the ongoing potato crisis with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. The meeting, which included the chief secretaries of both states, aimed to find a direct resolution to the issue. Majhi emphasized the importance of direct dialogue, stating, “I don’t believe in writing letters. I directly discussed the issue with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in Delhi. The situation has started to normalize, and the crisis will be resolved soon.”

Discussions with Andhra Pradesh

Majhi also had a productive conversation with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu regarding the Polavaram project. He reiterated Odisha’s concerns and proposed a meeting between the Chief Ministers of both states, which Naidu agreed to. Majhi remarked, “During the NITI Aayog meeting, I discussed with my Andhra Pradesh counterpart N. Chandrababu Naidu. We reiterated our claims on Polavaram. I have proposed a Chief Ministerial meeting in the coming days, and the Andhra Chief Minister has also agreed to the proposal.”

Warm Welcome in Bhubaneswar

Concluding his four-day visit to New Delhi, Chief Minister Majhi was warmly received at Biju Patnaik airport in Bhubaneswar. A delegation of cabinet ministers and administrative officials, including Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling, Chief Secretary Saroj Pradhan, Deputy Chief Secretary Gobind Chandra Das, and several MLAs, welcomed him back.

CM Majhi’s return marks the beginning of an optimistic phase for Odisha, with a clear roadmap for substantial development across various sectors, promising a transformative impact on the state’s future.
