Odisha’s Industrial Surge: ₹6,117 Crore Investments to Create Over 17,000 Jobs

Odisha’s Vision for Industrial Growth

Odisha is rapidly transforming into an industrial powerhouse, driven by investor-friendly policies and a commitment to balanced regional development. The success of Utkarsh Odisha – Make in Odisha Conclave has significantly boosted the state’s investment climate, making it a preferred destination for industries across multiple sectors.

Building upon this momentum, the 135th State Level Single Window Clearance Authority (SLSWCA) meeting, chaired by Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, has approved 19 major projects worth ₹6,117 crores. These projects are expected to generate 17,286 employment opportunities across 11 districts, reinforcing Odisha’s commitment to economic expansion and job creation.

Strategic Investments Across Key Sectors

The recently approved projects span ten high-impact sectors, reflecting Odisha’s industrial diversification and sustainability goals.

1. Green Energy and Biofuel: A Push for Sustainability

Odisha is making great strides in the green energy sector, with major investments set to boost renewable energy and biofuel production:

·       Transpacific Engineering Private Limited will invest ₹900 crore to establish a Biocoal plant in Sambalpur, generating 630 jobs.

·       Sai Sudha Motors Private Limited will set up a solar module manufacturing unit worth ₹68.58 crore in Khordha, creating 350 jobs.

2. Pipeline Infrastructure: Strengthening Fuel Supply

To enhance fuel supply networks, Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) will invest ₹868 crore in a High-Speed Diesel & Petrol pipeline across Rayagada, Balangir, and Kalahandi, generating 168 jobs.

3. Biotechnology and Chemicals: Driving Innovation

Odisha is attracting high-value investments in pharmaceuticals and specialty chemicals:

·       Sapigen Biologix Private Limited will set up a Vaccine Manufacturing Unit at Odisha Biotech Park, Khordha, with an investment of ₹854.32 crore, creating 850 jobs.

·       ARCL Organics Limited will establish a Specialty Chemicals manufacturing unit worth ₹500 crore in Jagatsinghpur, providing 725 jobs.

·       RCC Laboratories India Private Limited will invest ₹55.36 crore in a Preclinical Testing and Animal Breeding facility in Khordha, generating 134 jobs.

4. Steel and Aluminium: Strengthening Odisha’s Manufacturing Base

Odisha continues to be a leader in steel and aluminium production:

·       Nezone Steels Utkal LLP will establish a Colour Coating Sheet Manufacturing unit in Jajpur with a ₹470 crore investment, creating 340 jobs.

·       CMR Aluminium Private Limited will set up a Liquid Aluminium Alloy Plant worth ₹234.14 crore in Sambalpur, generating 200 jobs.

5. Shipbuilding and Repairing: Boosting Maritime Infrastructure

With Odisha’s coastal advantage, the state is making significant investments in shipbuilding:

·       Chowgule Lavgan Shiprepair Private Limited will invest ₹550 crore to establish a Shipbuilding & Repairing Yard in Jagatsinghpur, creating 1,000 jobs.

6. Food Processing: Strengthening Agro-Based Industries

·       Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages Private Limited will invest ₹515.32 crore to expand its food processing unit in Khurda, generating 441 jobs.

·       Geofast Industries (India) Limited will set up a ₹108 crore facility in Khordha for producing Ready-to-Drink Beverages, Personal Care Products, Condiments, and Sauces, creating 400 jobs.

7. Textile & Apparel: A Major Employment Generator

The textile and apparel sector has attracted major investments, promising mass employment opportunities:

·       Shri Mahavir Ferro Alloys Private Limited will establish a fabric and apparel manufacturing unit in Cuttack with an ₹115 crore investment, generating 10,000 jobs.

·       Iron Triangle Limited will invest ₹113.50 crore in Balangir, creating 1,150 jobs in ethnic wear and towel production.

8. Plastics Manufacturing: Expanding Industrial Diversification

·       Sanyam Tie Up Private Ltd will establish a ₹107.50 crore plastics facility in Jharsuguda for Surface Protection Films, LDPE Shrink Films, PE Liners, Tarpaulin, and Recycling, creating 175 jobs.

9. Tourism & Hospitality: Enhancing Odisha’s Appeal

Odisha is promoting luxury tourism and eco-resorts to attract more visitors:

·       Ashirbad Engineering and Construction Pvt Ltd will invest ₹139 crore in a 5-Star Hotel in Khordha, generating 254 jobs.

·       Somolo Eco Resorts Private Limited will develop a ₹110 crore Luxury Eco-Resort in Ganjam, creating 219 jobs.

·       Tavasya Hospitality Pvt Ltd will invest ₹52.20 crore in an Eco-Resort in Kandhamal, providing 250 jobs.
