MANAGING DIRECTOR IMFA
At a time when the worldwide economy has been undergoing continuous challenges, India required some people to fix the ongoing problems at home. At this crucial point of time, he took up a leadership role in FICCI, as the President –elect. He became the first industrialist from Odisha to obtain this prestigious position. With his deep understanding of the present economic and industrial scenario, he is determined to further strengthen FICCI’s position as the leading industry chamber which will contribute to India’s growth story through its engagement with various stakeholders. He is Subhrakant Panda, born to a father figure of industries in Odisha- industrialist Banshidhar Panda and founder of IMFA, one of the leading Ferro alloy companies in the country. Mr Subhrakant, a close follower of his father’s foot prints, received education from the USA, and returned to India to further extend his father’s company and became its MD.
Long before India became the first country, in 2014, to require major corporations to invest 2 % of their net profits into charity, the corporate social responsibility (CSR) arm of IMFA, was building schools, health clinics, and job-training institutes in 200 villages throughout Odisha. This was envisioned by Mr Panda.
Mr Panda graduated from the Questrom School of Business, Boston University- 1993, and with significant knowledge in both Finance and Operational Management, handled various responsibilities in IMFA, employing 6,500 people.
Growing up in a small city, he remained grounded in his family values and endeavours, and this is his strength. He tries to live up to his words through actions. He believes that it is important to be aware about and sensitive to the happenings in the lives of the people around him. He is firm about getting things done as optimally as possible.
This young industrialist has adopted a number of important positions in leading national and international industry forums, and is a great choice for VARINDIA to be lauded as a bright Crown Jewels of Odisha.
