Vedanta Aluminium and V-Spark are scaling deep-tech initiatives aimed at unlocking up to ₹2,100 crore in value through AI, digitalisation and automation. The announcement came at MetALverse, a technology showcase in Jharsuguda, Odisha, bringing global technology leaders and emerging startups together to accelerate the deployment of next-generation solutions across large-scale industrial operations.
Vedanta Aluminium And V-Spark: Building an Innovation Engine
Vedanta Aluminium Metal Limited, India’s largest aluminium producer, operates an integrated value chain spanning mining, alumina refining and aluminium production, with major assets in Odisha and BALCO in Chhattisgarh. Its products reach customers across more than 60 countries.
V-Spark DeepTech Ventures, Vedanta’s dedicated innovation arm, functions as a venture-client platform, partnering with startups, MSMEs and technology leaders to identify, test and scale solutions across mining, metals and manufacturing.
From Deep-Tech Ideas to Industrial Scale
The MetALverse initiative is designed to bridge the gap between promising technology and real-world industrial deployment. Solutions will undergo technical evaluation, live-environment pilots, data integration and scale-up assessment across Vedanta Aluminium’s operations.
The targeted ₹2,100-crore opportunity is expected to come from improvements in plant productivity, cost optimisation, asset reliability and sustainability. The company’s massive manufacturing facilities effectively provide V-Spark with a “mega incubation environment” where emerging technologies can be tested under demanding industrial conditions before wider deployment.

A Broad Technology Partnership Network
The collaborations cover a wide spectrum of industrial technology. OpenAI will support generative AI and intelligent agents, while Microsoft will contribute cloud, AI and enterprise capabilities. SAP will focus on integrated enterprise processes, with AVEVA supporting industrial data, digital twins and analytics. Rockwell Automation, Thoughtworks and Fives will contribute expertise spanning smart manufacturing, digital engineering and aluminium process optimisation.
The deep-tech ecosystem also includes Ripik.AI for industrial vision and process optimisation, XYMA for high-temperature monitoring, Faclon for connected manufacturing, DesignX for AI-enabled factory workflows, DigitalPaani for water optimisation, AutoVRse for immersive training, Enmovil for AI-led logistics and ideaForge for drone-based industrial intelligence.
Innovation At Scale, Not Just Experimentation
V-Spark is currently collaborating with nearly 70 startups, deploying its innovation model across the Lanjigarh alumina refinery, Jharsuguda’s large-scale aluminium operations and BALCO in Korba.

If the partnerships deliver their projected value, Vedanta Aluminium could demonstrate how AI, automation and deep tech can simultaneously improve productivity, sustainability, safety and competitiveness.
More significantly, the initiative positions V-Spark as a bridge between India’s startup ecosystem and heavy industry—turning breakthrough ideas into scalable solutions capable of reshaping the future of aluminium manufacturing.
