It was a proud moment for Odisha, when one of her competent sons was appointed chief of the central financial regulating body of India. Hailing from Odisha, an alumni of DM School, Bhubaneswar, he has been one of the most prominent bureaucrats in the Ministry of Finance and played a vital role in formulating financial policies.
Mr Shaktikanta Das became a household name in December 2018 when he was appointed as the 25th Governor of Reserve Bank of India. Born into a diffident
family Mr Das, was a brilliant student throughout. A post graduate in History, with various advanced courses in financial management, Project Management from IIM Calcutta, an IAS of Tamil Nadu cadre, he has a long list of achievements while serving for both Government of Tamil Nadu and Government of India in various capacities.He has vast experience in budget making, dealing with monetary policies as he was associated with the concerned departments.
To talk about his special assignments, he has also served as India’s alternate Governor in the World Bank, ADB, NDB and AIIB. He has represented India in various International forums like IMF, G20, BRICS, and SAARC Etc.
He was conferred the ‘Central Banker of the Year, Asia-Pacific 2020’ award by the London based magazine-The Banker, for his efforts to make the banking system more robust.
