A braveheart but equally emotional when it comes to his motherland, he is a one man army and a divine worker. Being a cyclone prone area, this man, born and brought up in Odisha is familiar with the cyclonic calamities that people of this state face every year. Taking it as his personal challenge, he took to his stride to rescue the people of his state. He is one of the heroes behind the successful post cyclonic management in the flood and cyclone prone areas in Odisha.
He is Mr. Satya Narayan Pradhan, the current Director General of National Disaster Response Force. He is an IPS officer of 1988 batch from Jharkhand cadre. Mr Pradhan completed his basic studies in Bhubaneswar, post-graduation from Hyderabad and MPhil from J.N.U. He was awarded the prestigious Chevening Fellowship of the British Council and acquired the degree of LLM from University of Essex, UK. He holds a Diploma in Disaster Management and is committed to introduce further innovations and best practises into disaster response effort to NDRF.
He has successfully handled various key positions while serving for the nation with highest dedication and honesty. The Senior IPS officer has bagged various decorations like President’s Police Medal, Police Medal for Meritorious Services, and President’s Police Medal for Gallantry, along with the Queen’s award 2008 for innovation in Policing by Government of UK.
As the DG NDRF, his remarkable work during various cyclones, ensuring ZERO casualty placed him at the top of the hearts. During Covid, Mr Pradhan with his NDRF team was battle ready to tackle any situation, any call, standing by the local police and medical staff.
Mr Pradhan is now appointed as the Director General of Narcotics Control Bureau.
