Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited (TPREL), a leader in India’s solar revolution and a subsidiary of Tata Power, has unveiled the country’s most affordable rooftop solar solution in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. This transformative launch comes under the company’s ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ campaign, aimed at making clean energy accessible to every household.
With a strong consumer-first approach, Tata Power has introduced a low-entry-cost model allowing residents to begin their solar journey with minimal investment: ₹2,499 for 1 kW, ₹4,999 for 2 kW, and ₹7,999 for 3 kW systems. This approach significantly reduces financial barriers and encourages widespread solar adoption across Odisha.
Government Support Enhances Affordability
The initiative gains further momentum with government-backed incentives. Under the PM Surya Ghar: Muft Bijli Yojana, consumers can receive central subsidies of up to ₹78,000 for systems up to 3 kW, covering about 40% of installation costs. Additionally, the Odisha State Government offers further financial support — ₹25,000 for 1 kW, ₹50,000 for 2 kW, and up to ₹60,000 for systems 3 kW and above. These combined subsidies make rooftop solar a practical and cost-effective solution for every home.

To meet evolving household needs, TPREL has also introduced two enhanced lifestyle solutions. MySine is a compact, intelligent solar+battery backup system that ensures uninterrupted power, while Solar Design Spaces offers 25 visually appealing rooftop designs that combine functionality with aesthetics. These innovations not only support energy independence but also elevate the visual appeal of homes.
Surging Adoption in Odisha
Driven by the ‘Ghar Ghar Solar’ campaign, Odisha has witnessed a remarkable increase in rooftop solar adoption. Residential consumer numbers have grown more than fourfold, from 430 to 1,759. In FY25 alone, TPREL added 1,033 new rooftop customers in the state — a tenfold rise from FY24. The commercial and industrial (C&I) segment also grew steadily, with 76 new clients added this year compared to 56 last year.
