Accompanied by Odisha Governor Raghubar Das and Higher Education Minister Atanu Sabyasachi Nayak, President Murmu presented honorary DLit degrees to Pramod Kumar Mishra, Director General of India Meteorological Department (IMD) Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, and Managing Director of Hindalco Industries Ltd Satish Pai.

Under his leadership, Hindalco has witnessed remarkable innovations and investments, solidifying its presence in Odisha with substantial industrial operations and investments exceeding Rs. 25,000 crores over the past 15 years.
The convocation, attended by Vice-Chancellor Sabita Acharya, faculty members, and students, celebrated the rich heritage of Utkal University, the oldest university in Odisha and the 17th oldest in India. Established in 1943, the university’s journey from its inception at the premises of Ravenshaw College in Cuttack to its current campus in the capital city of Odisha stands as a testament to its enduring legacy in the field of education.
